NSTS Somerset Camp 2024

NSTS SOMERSET CAMP – AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
The NSTS Somerset Camp took place over August Bank Holiday weekend and was
fantastically well attended. As usual we took over a local camp site near Wells. The
weather was actually fairly kind to us with mainly raining overnight and stopping in
time for the Scenic Drive on Saturday. The site is very unique and has toilets,
showers and a pot washing area. Being a working farm, we are spoilt with having the
ducks wandering amongst us.
The camp opened midday on the Thursday, with most arriving during the afternoon.
Friday was a day to relax, catch up with friends and enjoy the views, behind is the
sloping vineyard and forwards across the levels is Glastonbury Tor. In the evening
most of us went up to the local pub for a meal and to enjoy a duo singing songs from
the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Saturday started wet but luckily stopped in time for the scenic drive as there were 38
assorted A series vehicles plus 5 other vehicles including an H van and a Traction
Avant. After a drive across the levels we had jacket potatoes and cream teas at
Sweets Tea rooms. Here we are able to park together in a separate field which is
excellent for photos.
Sunday we had a fantastic street party in the afternoon with everyone providing
tables, chairs and food. Whilst we were sitting enjoying it the farm moved the cows
from the field opposite to another down the road, it was lovely watching them being
moved even though the last few had other ideas.
In between these events folk went off enjoying themselves with many visiting
Glastonbury and the Tor, whilst others remained on site catching up with friends.
Some even went on a wine tasting tour at the vineyard.
Thank you so much to all that came and made it a real success, next years camp is
over the 2 nd bank holiday in May – 22 nd to 27 th . Please email nsts2cv@gmail.com for
