Princethorpe College, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV23 9PX
Friday 2nd June to Sunday 4th June
As with previous years the main day is on the Sunday, but on-site camping is available from Friday afternoon (4pm) for those who wish to make a weekend of it?
In addition to the great site itself, there is plenty to do in and around the area. The market town of Rugby, famous for being the spot Rugby Football was invented; The Royal Spa town of Leamington, with its Regency Architecture, Pump Room and Baths; The town of Kenilworth famous for its ruined Castle and Warwick, the County town, again with a fantastic Castle. Not forgetting the City of Coventry, with its impressive motor museum, all just a stone’s throw away from the site.
We are keeping entry prices the same as last year, which are as follows:
Whole weekend per adult
Member rates: £20 Non-Member rates: £25
Day visit (whether Sat or Sun) per adult per day
Member rate: £5 Non-Member Rate: £10
Online pre-booking may not be available this year, but we’ll keep you posted should this change.
The site will be open from Friday afternoon onwards. There will be plenty of space and decent facilities on site. We have use of the showers and toilets at the sports facility once more and there will be portable toilets dotted around. There is a change to the main camping area this year. We do not have access to the main rugby field, so instead will use the garden and the green for noisy and quiet camping.
Registers Day Itself
To those who have not been before, this is the closest 2cvGB gets to an annual ‘Show and Shine’ day. It gives us all an opportunity to show off our cars and line them up by Register, and enjoy a spot of A Series indulgence! However, unlike other shows, there is no obligation to set about your car with the polish, it is more a ‘Pride of Ownership’ ethos, and all are welcome in the displays, whether your car is an immaculate show piece or a well-loved daily hack.
The event gets going from 10.30am on the Sunday, with the programme of events for the day including cavalcade, voting for your favourite cars, raffle, prize giving as well as trade stands, flea market and food and bar on site.
The college 6th Form Centre will be available to use all weekend and in the mornings will be servicing reasonably priced cooked breakfasts. A bar will be available, hopefully from the Friday night. We hope to have food available and entertainment on the Saturday night at the 6th Form Centre and in the walled garden during Sunday. The walled garden will be the main arena area where we will site traders, the flea market and hold the cavalcade.
Dyane – 50th Birthday
The Dyane turns 50 this year so we would like to make the event about this great car. If you possess one of these ‘A’ series derivatives, then please help us make the weekend all about this car, and bring it along for display.
As always are most welcome and pitches are free of charge – all we gratefully request is a prize for the raffle. Club members are also welcome to bring along their own goods to sell alongside.
As always the weekend is run by a band of volunteers. This year it is being hosted again by one of 2cvGB’s oldest local groups, The Godiva Two Horse Riding School. We will, as usual, need extra help which could include gate duty, selling raffle tickets, marshalling cars etc., First Aiders and much more.
We really hope to see you there!
